Magdalena Mitterhofer

DIRECTOR / AUTHOR / VISUAL ARTIST

Magdalena Mitterhofer (b. 1994, San Candido, Italy; lives in Berlin) works across film and performance art, often in collaborative and site-specific settings. Her works explore architecture as a stage to investigate sociopolitical structures and audience dynamics. She earned a Meisterschüler degree at the University of the Arts Berlin in the class of Hito Steyerl (2019) and studied Media Art at Tama University, Tokyo. Recent works have been presented at Kunstverein München, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien, Volksbühne Berlin, Longtang Zurich, Museion Bolzano, Brücke Museum Berlin, and others. Her short film Corte won “Best Film” and a Jury Prize at the Beijing International Short Film Festival, as well as a Special Mention at the Contemporanea International Film Festival, Torino.
