Since summer 2022, our regular meetups for female* filmmakers and crew members in South Tyrol have evolved into a strong network and reference point for institutions and potential partners committed to increasing gender equality and female representation in the film industry.

While raising awareness and advocacy remain important, our main goal is to bring real change by creating bottom-up initiatives ideated by Women* who work professionally in Film. Beyond Ideas

Beyond Ideas is a newly developed supportive space for filmmakers to discuss new ideas, experiences, and personal and social obstacles. We meet on a regular basis in smaller groups.

We are currently working on a directory that aims to highlight and promote female film professionals in South Tyrol and to provide productions with the information they need to connect with female crew members.

Initiatives

INSIEME — Prevention of harassment in the workplace

As part of the INSIEME Initiative, we are currently working closely with our local film fund and South Tyrol’s Equal Opportunities Commissioner to strengthen anti-mobbing measures, address MeToo-related issues, and improve overall protection of the personal rights of film workers, helping create a safer and fairer environment in the local film production community. Our first workshop took place in February 2026. You can read more about it in our press release (German / Italian).

QUALCOSA DEL GENERE — to strengthen Women* in Film

We are developing a series of upcoming workshops aimed at strengthening the communication and conflict-resolution skills women* in film need to navigate demanding on-set and production environments. Topics will include effective boundary-setting and de-escalation techniques tailored to industry realities — the goal is to help women prevent conflicts early and lead with clarity and resilience in their professional roles.

Our first QUALCOSA DEL GENERE Workshop#1, made possible through a collaboration with the IDM Film & Music Commission, takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Together with systemic coach, organisational developer, and author Micki Gruber (Il Marchio IO), we’ll dive into communication, leadership, and networking in a hands-on workshop for women* professionally working in the audiovisual sector in South Tyrol.

Based on real experiences from everyday work, we’ll mix short inputs with reflection, practical exercises, and exchange.

Saturday, 10 October 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Bolzano (languages: German/Italian)

FEMALE VIEWS / BFFB

Since its founding, the Film Frauen Roundtable – together with the group Female Views – has been a regular participant in the BFFB Talks at the Bolzano Filmfestival Bozen, focusing on gender-specific topics and centering women’s perspectives.
