Martin Prinoth

Martin Prinoth is a filmmaker, multimedia artist and cinematographer. He was born in 1983 in the Ladin-speaking Urtijëi, Italy. After his BA degree in communication sciences at the University in Salzburg he studied Film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Martin Prinoth is holder of the Gerd Ruge scholarship and part of the international film developement program EsoDoc 2020. In 2019 he received the Robert Bosch grant „Grenzgänger“. His debut film „The Fifth Point of the Compass“ premiered at DOK Leipzig 60th and received several nominations and prizes including the VisioniDOC award for best Italian documentary debut. The film was shown on TV and in cinemas in the co-production countries Germany and Italy. 2020 he co-foundet the Hamburg based artist duo TÒ SU with Martina Mahlknecht, which produces own projects between documentary film, multimedia art and immersive performances.
