An Initiative to strengthen Women in Film

Since summer 2022, our regular meetups for female filmmakers and crew members in South Tyrol have evolved into a strong network and reference point for institutions and potential partners committed to increasing gender equality and female representation in the film industry.

The Roundtable

Through regular meetings in various formats and locations, we create space for exchange, visibility, and solidarity among female film professionals.

...

The roundtables serve to identify the most pressing challenges and barriers we face — and to work together, step by step, to overcome them. Are you interested in joining our network or taking part in the next meet-up? Drop us a line.

Beyond Ideas

Beyond Ideas is a newly developed supportive space for filmmakers to discuss new ideas, experiences, and personal and social obstacles. We meet on a regular basis in smaller groups.

Women in Film

We are currently working on a directory that aims to highlight and promote female film professionals in South Tyrol and to provide productions with the information they need to connect with female crew members.

By filling out this form, you’ll help strengthen the visibility of women working in film and consent to having your contact details published or shared within the FAS network.

Initiatives

Prevention of harassment in the workplace

We are currently working closely with our local film fund and South Tyrol’s Equal Opportunities Commissioner to strengthen anti-mobbing measures, address MeToo-related issues, and improve overall protection of the personal rights of film workers, helping create a safer and fairer environment in the local film production community. Things are in motion and we will soon be able to inform you about what we are cooking up!

Empowerment

We are currently also developing a series of upcoming workshops that aim to strengthen the communication and conflict-resolution skills that women in film need to navigate demanding on-set and production environments. The seminars will include topics like effective boundary-setting and de-escalation techniques tailored to industry realities. Its aim is to prevent conflicts early, and lead with clarity and resilience in their professional roles.

Female Views / BFFB

Since its founding, the Film Frauen Roundtable – together with the group Female Views – has been a regular participant in the BFFB Talks at the Bolzano Filmfestival Bozen, focusing on gender-specific topics and centering women’s perspectives.

Work with us!

We recognize that many challenges women face in the film industry mirror those across the broader creative sector. While we work closely with our partners in the film world on shared goals, we’re happy to collaborate beyond film. If you want to join forces, we’d love to connect. Get in touch with us!
