Matteo Marzano

SCREENWRITER / ANIMATOR / DIRECTOR

After graduating in design he attended IDM’s Racconti Local Plus with an original script. He worked at the VFX studio Direct2Brain in Rome, first as intern then as Junior Producer for the Rai series “La vita promessa” by Ricky Tognazzi. In 2019 he joined Serena Dandini's “Stati Generali” as motion designer and started a freelance collaboration with Publicis group, creating promotional animations and TV commercials for major brands (Heineken, Netflix, Nivea, McDonald's, etc). He wrote and produced low budget live action and animated short films: “Lino Porçel” was screened at Karawan Fest 2024. He studied animation with Brent Noll and screenwriting for animation at Scuola Holden. In 2026 he was selected to pursue IDM’s screenwriting mentorship program with Mario Bellina and the pitch for his short movie “Somebody stole my salmon” won second place at Cartoons on the Bay. He organizes “spìtchati”, a monthly event open to local filmmakers.
