FAS advocates for an independent, nationally and internationally recognised professional film industry in South Tyrol, and for a diverse and sustainable local film culture.
...
The association represents producers, directors, screenwriters, actors and crew members from all parts of film production who live and work in South Tyrol or maintain biographical ties to the region.
FAS is recognised as a professional film association and is funded solely through membership fees, while project-based contributions from public institutions are directed to single initiatives. The association is non-profit, politically neutral, and non-denominational.

To ensure that South Tyrolean filmmakers not only benefit from work in secondary roles but take on more prominent creative positions, FAS advocates for targeted training initiatives and updated funding criteria.
We support strong backing for locally developed projects and creative leads, as well as improved distribution funding so South Tyrolean films can reach national and international audiences.
Together with funding institutions and industry partners, we work toward fair compensation standards, safe working environments, and transparent structures that recognise the value of all filmworkers.
Promoting film culture, engaging local audiences, and championing the visibility of local filmmakers and film workers have always been central to our work. We participate in and organise film-specific cultural initiatives to contribute to film literacy and the appreciation of cinema as an art form.

Our initiatives include the annual DOC DAY programme, which celebrates documentary filmmaking and fosters dialogue around the medium, as well as partnerships with local and regional organizations to strengthen film literacy and audience engagement.
Through our monthly FAS Showcase, we highlight our members‘ work and track the journey of their films—from festivals to markets and beyond. We also bring visibility to the often-overlooked creative roles that are essential to filmmaking, ensuring that the full spectrum of artistic contribution is recognized and valued.
